Artificial Intelligence vs. Entrepreneurial Spirit
In the near future, one might predict AI-Founders adept at building companies, while AI-Capital Allocators fund AI-Entities.
Earlier today, I paradoxically read two enlightening pieces regarding AI and venture. The first article by Benardt Vogel discusses how AI is being used by VCs to gain an advantage in spotting investment opportunities with the greatest potential. The second article by Dan Kraemer illustrates how Generative AI could potentially fuel the inception of the next "game-changing" business ventures. These propositions are enchanting, painting a picture of a streamlined and efficient ideation process and capital allocation.
In the near future, one might predict AI-Founders adept at building companies, while AI-Capital Allocators fund AI-Entities. The narrative takes a turn towards the surreal as it envisages a scenario where we, the humans, become mere spectators to a gargantuan startup simulation operated entirely by artificial intelligence. This narrative seems to cater to those seeking a swift, effortless path to financial gain, devoid of societal investment, and spiritual risk.
Venture, as I see it, extends beyond the mere act of building and capitalizing on businesses and reaping financial rewards. It embodies a journey of vulnerability, forging profound connections with society, and embarking on a path fraught with challenges, yet ripe for personal growth. The essence of entrepreneurship lies in the the trials, the pain, the failures, the lessons learned, and the indelible relationships formed. Many have unveiled their true selves through the journey of entrepreneurship.
In a dystopian world where Founders and Capital Allocators could merely prompt their way to financial success with little risk or effort, the rich tapestry of human connection and personal growth found in Venture is forsaken. To quote a famous passage: “And what do we benefit if we gain the whole world but lose our own souls?”
As we stand on the cusp of AI's potential to advance Venture, let's not lose sight of the unyielding spirit and profound human connection that truly forms its bedrock.
